Ginger Snaps

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup shortening
oleo, Crisco, etc. - Ginger covers the taste so real butter is not essential
1 cup molasses ( substitute dark corn syrup or other pancake syrup)
1 Tblsp vinegar
4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 to 4 tsp ginger

Bake at 350° 8 minutes ( a bit longer with syrup in place of molasses)
